Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Manchester United, there have been several suggestions that Edinson Cavani could soon be on the way out of Old Trafford.
The Uruguayan striker has recently shown dissatisfaction with the international break situation, as he may not be able to join the national team in the next rounds of the World Cup qualifiers.
So it’s been said today that Brazilian side Corinthians, who are currently in the race for the signing of Arsenal winger Willian, could be contenders to land Cavani as well.
Those rumours quickly spread through the São Paulo media, as the transfer would obviously be huge for the South American side.
However, in touch with Edinson Cavani’s brother, journalist Andre Hernan found out that there’s no truth in that story.
Speaking to the reporter, Walter Guglielmone ‘guaranteed’ that no one from Corinthians or any intermediaries have contacted him regarding a move. He also made it clear that the striker has one more year left in his contract with Manchester United.
Since Cavani came close to joining Boca Juniors this summer, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him returning to South America in the future. Whether Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Old Trafford will rush the Uruguayan’s exit… that remains to be seen.
