Barcelona defender Jules Koundé has admitted it was an easy decision to choose the Catalans over Chelsea this summer.
As was the case last year, Koundé was heavily linked with a move to Stamford Bridge as the Blues looked to reshape their defence.
The departures of Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger had left them short in defence and they once again turned to Sevilla in an attempt to rectify the problem.
Weeks of negotiations ensued between Chelsea and Sevilla to make a deal happen, with the Spanish side continuing to demand a huge figure for the defender despite their need for money.
It led to another frustrated transfer saga allowing Barcelona to steal in at the last minute to secure an agreement with Sevilla in Chelsea’s stead.
That involved a last-minute change of heart from the player as well, who had long been in agreement with Chelsea and appeared keen on the switch.
According to him, though, there was no debate at all when it came to choosing his next destination.
“It’s (Barcelona) still a club that generates a lot of excitement,” Sport report him saying when asked why it was Barcelona and ‘not Chelsea’.
“Talking to the manager was also important. He gave me a lot of confidence and I liked the way he saw football. It was an easy decision because it was everything I was looking for.
“It’s a competitive group, personally I’m excited, I’m playing football to play those big games.
“We are working step by step and getting a good feeling. We have a lot of danger and they need to worry, or take us seriously.”
