Earlier this week we brought you a report that Manchester United were keen on Juventus midfielder Blaise Matuidi.
Corriere Dello Sport claimed that Manchester United ‘were at the window’ for the World Cup winner, who could leave Juve this summer after the arrival of Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot.
Le Parisien have backed up those claims today and said that United are indeed interested in Matuidi.
According to the newspaper, they have ‘come forward’ for the 32-year-old but their pursuit is likely to be a short and unsuccessful one.
They report that despite Juventus having a plethora of midfielders available next season, they aren’t keen on selling Matuidi at any point.
While he has a year left on his deal, which would usually put a player in the window, Juventus have an option to extend that by a year and so Matuidi has ‘no reason to look elsewhere.’
In fact, should the Serie A champions need to sell anyone they will get rid of Sami Khedira, Emre Can and Rodrigo Bentancur first.
That suggests this is a pursuit that United would be wise to give up on before they even start. Juve aren’t interested in a sale and it seems Matuidi has no intention of pushing for a move either.
