Leeds United will need to pay at least €20m if they want to sign Orkun Kökçü from Feyenoord at any point.
That’s according to Feyenoord Transfermarkt, who explain that Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been handed a boost as Kökçü recently turned down a move to Hertha Berlin.
They report that Kökçü finds himself in a ‘stormy development’ at this moment in time having received a ‘generous proposal’ from the Bundesliga side.
There’s no mention of the details of this bid, but it was presumably a big upgrade on what he is currently earning given the generous side of it.
This bid was warmly welcomed and he ‘thanked’ them for it but it was rejected, with the Turkish international making it clear that he wants to finish the season with Feyenoord.
That means a move won’t be happening until the summer, thus giving Leeds their chance to work on a deal for the remainder of the campaign.
They’re one of several sides thought to be keen and a recent report indicated that they had been ‘in the stands’ to watch his recent performances.
Should they make a move at any point, they’ll have to dig deep, with it made clear that Feyenoord want around €20m for their player.
Whether Leeds are willing to offer that isn’t mentioned but with a January move now ruled out, this is one to keep an eye on for next summer.
