With the money from the sale of Aaron Wan-Bissaka burning a hole in their pocket, Crystal Palace need to reinvest this summer.
There are several positions for them to improve upon before next week’s deadline and it seems central midfield is one Roy Hodgson wants additions in.
Over the past two days, there’s been various updates on a move for midfielder Victor Camarasa, and that continues today.
ABC Sevilla cover the transfer today and confirm that Palace chief Dougie Freedman is in Seville trying to negotiate a deal with Real Betis.
The two parties were busy discussing the potential move all day yesterday, and the newspaper says Freedman is determined to get a deal over the line and ‘accelerated’ things in the past few hours.
They are yet to reach an agreement, but Betis are keen for a sale because they want the money to spend elsewhere. In fact, despite Camarasa having a €25m release clause, they would sell for €15m.
That’s more than double what Betis paid for the midfielder and would mean they still make a profit despite 20% of any deal going to his former club.
Diario de Sevilla, meanwhile, don’t cover much but do say that Camarasa enjoyed his time in the Premier League and ‘would not mind returning again’.
Palace certainly have the money available to make a bid, but their initial effort was a loan move with a purchase option at the end of it. With Betis wanting the cash for their own business, it seems that’s likely to be rejected until Palace stump up the money.
