Tottenham Hotspur are currently asking for €40m for Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, which is €15m more than Juventus would like to pay for the player.
That’s according to journalist Ciro Venerato, who has revealed details of the potential transfer in comments relayed by Tutto Juve.
Several reports over the last few weeks have made it clear that Juventus are eyeing up a move for Hojbjerg in the January transfer window as they need to add midfielders to their squad.
Max Allegri’s group have been left short in that area thanks to long-term suspensions handed out to Paul Pogba and Nicolo Fagioli, both of whom need to be replaced.
A shortlist of options is being drawn up including Hojbjerg, who has barely featured for Tottenham this season as Ange Postecoglou has preferred Pape Matar Sarr and Yves Bissouma as his midfield two.
That’s led to a belief he will be moved on in January, with Juventus and several other sides remaining fans of the player after showing an interest in him in the summer transfer window.
It seems, though, that there is a distinct difference in the valuation of the player between Juventus and Tottenham at this moment in time.
“The suspensions require a reinforcement, Juventus have moved for Hojbjerg, the English ask for 40 million, but Giuntoli offers 25 but with the loan formula with obligation to buy,” Venerato told La Domenica Sportiva.
“He is Allegri’s favorite with De Paul a valid alternative but more inclined to the dribble and not a classic playmaker.
“Juventus are making economic evaluations on Berardi because they cannot afford him and Hojbjerg together.”
