Tottenham Hotspur’s pursuit for the signing of manager Antonio Conte had a positive turnaround, according to the latest news from Italy.
Website Calcio Mercato brings an update today saying the situation was ‘simply reversed’ after Daniel Levy gave his willingness to spending more on the project.
It’s claimed that Conte had shown a certain ‘coldness’ regarding Spurs’ chase, since he wanted a heavy investment in the squad to do his job.
Levy at first ‘seemed strongly reluctant’ to that scenario, especially because of all the money spent on Tottenham’s new stadium. However, he now seems to have been convinced by club director Fabio Paratici, and ‘accepts the requests’ on the table.
The Italian official is said to be ‘working frantically’ to find a deal with Conte. That’s a scenario where Spurs would spend €20m gross (€10m net) only on the manager, plus the cost of all his staff.
Furthermore, it’s said it’d require ‘more than €100m in a short time’ to reflect the coach’s ambitions, and that seems to be the point on which Levy is finally agreeing.
Calcio Mercato says the ‘definitive evolution’ should be done in the coming hours, as there’s ‘optimism’ for an agreement with these new developments.
