Tottenham Hotspur have reigned their interest in Clément Lenglet, if reports coming out of Spain are to be believed.

The defender has been restricted to only four league starts with Barcelona this season and the managerial change at the Camp Nou has had no impact on his game time.

Xavi Hernández replaced Ronald Koeman as the La Liga side’s manager and the Spaniard has not relied upon the 26-year-old for the league matches.

According to journalist Gerard Romero, Spurs ‘return to charge’ for the centre-back in the winter market.

He reports the north London club were interested in signing the France international in the summer, when Nuno Espírito Santo was in charge. Tottenham even made an offer, but the former Sevilla man ‘rejected’ it.

Antonio Conte was appointed as Nuno’s successor and the Italian could look for a new central defender, especially with Cristian Romero ruled out until February.

Mundo Deportivo have provided more information on the claims made by Gerard Romero. He states the Premier League side have been ‘dreaming [about Lenglet] for a long time’ and have asked Barca about the player’s situation.

Ramón Planes, the Spanish club’s former technical secretary, had held talks with Spurs, likely for Lenglet.
