Already a well-known talent around Europe to scouts, Roony Bardghji really made his mark on the public when he scored the winner against Manchester United in the Champions League, which immediately led to rumours about him being of interest to the likes of Chelsea.

The Blues have been after the young Swede for a long time, and with their current philosophy of spending big on talent, he fits their profile perfectly.

In fact, a move to Chelsea or a big club would be ideal for Bardghji, who has never shied away from speaking how he feels, doing so recently in quotes relayed by Ekstrabladet.

Asked where a transfer now would be a good thing for him, or whether waiting until the summer would be better, the 18-year-old didn’t hold back.

He said: “I feel ready, but when it will be, whether it is now or later, I don’t know. Right now, I’m focusing on getting in top shape and playing football. Then we have to see what happens.”

Regarding a move to Chelsea or Barcelona, he added: “It’s a dream. It’s always great to hear about something like this, because it means you’re doing well. But I try not to think about it too much. It is special, but it’s not something that stresses me out. I just take the positive in it and see it as motivation. This means I have to continue as I am doing and, of course, try to do it even better.”

Whether a move to Stamford Bridge or elsewhere happens, we’ll have to wait and see, and Bardghji isn’t particularly fussy about his next step, as long as it means he goes to a ‘top five league’.

Chelsea do fall into that category, although whether he would want to join them this season in the middle of unwanted struggles, only he knows.
