Malcom’s aim of a move to Tottenham Hotspur may have taken a blow with the signing of Lucas Moura, but he’s not letting it get him down.
Towards the end of the transfer window it was reported in Brazil that the youngster was left ‘delighted’ after a meeting with Mauricio Pochettino.
As we covered at the time: ‘The Tottenham manager explained he’d turn Malcom into a star player in Europe within a maximum of three years.
It all left Malcom and his people ‘convinced’ Spurs were the ‘best option’ for the player, despite having also spoken to Arsenal. Moving to the London club was seen as the player’s ‘imminent destiny’.’
Bordeaux wouldn’t sell and Malcom remains at the French club until the end of the season. Monday’s edition of L’Equipe has quotes from the player, and the French newspaper also mentions Tottenham’s interest.
On being keen to leave Girondins during the winter transfer window, Malcom explained: “I wanted to leave, I tell the truth. It’s my dream to progress in my career. I spoke with the president, he told me that he knew it was my dream, but that he needed me.
“I told him he could count on me until the end. I will do everything to bring Bordeaux to the top 6 of Ligue 1.”
Any chance Malcom has of moving to Tottenham in the summer will surely rest on potential departure’s. As ever, Erik Lamela is being linked with a return to Italy, whilst Georges-Kévin N’Koudou may be moved on in the summer after his loan spell with Burnley.
