Ruhr Nachrichten is Borussia Dortmund’s local newspaper, and they cover everything which happens at the club. They don’t do so in a dramatic way, there’s not endless transfer rumours, and it’s clear they have good connections at BVB.
In a Thursday article they talk about Jadon Sancho being key as Dortmund look to fight for the Bundesliga title this season. Clearly, it’s believed the player will be staying where he is, and Ruhr Nachrichten say people associated with Manchester United ‘have their problems with coming to terms with the situation’.
They state fans of the Old Trafford club ‘do not want to admit’ Sancho will kick-off the season with Dortmund, and there’s a suggestion of arrogance when it comes to the perception of Manchester United’s relative transfer strength.
Borussia Dortmund have largely kept their player away from the media in recent weeks, with Ruhr Nachrichten saying that’s why German journalists haven’t been able to press him on his preference.
They go on to say, according to their own information, there’s been no ‘specific statement’ from Sancho to BVB about wanting an England return this summer. In other words, he hasn’t asked to leave, and it’s thought he’s accepted Dortmund’s stance of not selling after the August 10th/€120m deadline was missed.
Ruhr Nachricten believe Sancho staying is likely, and they end their article by saying: ‘Manchester United fans will probably only accept this when the transfer window finally closes on October 5th.’
