Manchester United defender Alex Telles has revealed he doesn’t know what the future holds once his season long loan deal with Sevilla comes to an end.
The full back is currently on loan at the Spanish club, having been shipped out by Manchester United in the summer.
The 29-year-old had been with United since 2020 following a €15m move from Porto but had never established himself as the first choice under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
That continued under Ralf Rangnick, and he was subsequently pushed down the pecking order this summer when Erik ten Hag brought in Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord.
He’s now spending the season on loan at Sevilla, a move made partially to keep his hopes of playing at the World Cup in Qatar alive.
It’s unclear whether Manchester United negotiated a purchase clause with Sevilla for when the loan deal expires and Telles admits he is unsure on what will happen at the end of the season.
“I’m very happy at Sevilla,” he told AS.
“The club and the fans have given me a lot of confidence. I will give my best here and I don’t know what will happen next year.
“I honestly don’t think about whether I can get injured before the World Cup. Of course, it can happen to every player. But to get there I have to do my best at Sevilla.
“Then, when the time comes to go to Qatar, we’ll think about that.”
