Liverpool have been struggling with so many injuries this season that it can be hard for fans to keep track of the current medical list.
A recurrent absence in the squad has been Xherdan Shaqiri, who has only five appearances for the Reds this season, and last played a game in early November.
Pierluigi Tami, who oversees the Swiss national teams, spoke to Blue News this week, and has claimed that he doesn’t know anything about the winger being injured.
Shaqiri played for his country in mid November, after his last match for Liverpool, in a game against Spain. He ended up not entering the pitch for the fixture against Ukraine, but Tami claims he was fully available at that time.
“We don’t know what’s going on with Shaqiri. He trained with us normally until the last day and would’ve been ready for the Ukraine game. We are in contact with the Liverpool team doctor but we have no specific information about the injury,” Tami told Blue News.
When Shaqiri got back from the last international break, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp spoke about a muscle injury picked up with the national team, and that’s now denied by them. So this could become a controversial topic in the coming weeks.
