Rangers manager Philippe Clement’s decision not to rely on Sam Lammers regularly convinced him to leave Ibrox for FC Utrecht on a loan deal in the winter market.
After his loan spell at the Eredivisie side, the striker has to return to Rangers, where he has a deal until 2027.
Voetbal Primeur had a chat with the Rangers man and he was honest in admitting that he’s unsure of where his future lies next season.
“I don’t know what my future looks like, I’ve also had a lot of questions about that in recent weeks. I’m not working on that now,” he said.
The 27-year-old has starred for the Dutch club this year, scoring 11 goals and registering three assists from 19 games. This has convinced them to try to retain him beyond this season.
Earlier this month, Utrecht technical director Jordy Zuidam said they are “fully committed” to keeping the Rangers owned player and have held talks with him. Philippe Clement’s side have to make a decision on his future in the summer window.
Utrecht aren’t the only club looking to take Lammers away from Ibrox. ESPN NL analyst Hans Kraay Jr recently stated AZ Alkmaar have set their sights on strengthening their attack.
“For example, I know that he is high on the list at AZ, as successor to Vangelis Pavlidis. But AZ is also not going to pay that one and a half million,” he said, relayed by Voetbal Primeur.
With two clubs keen, Rangers may be able to get a reasonable deal for Lammers.
