Douglas Luiz spent five years at Aston Villa before leaving them for Juventus in June 2024.

The midfielder was a regular for the Villans as he played 204 games, managing 22 goals and 24 assists in the process.

Since leaving Aston Villa, he’s had to settle for a limited role, due to injuries and poor form. To put it in context, Luiz has played 823 minutes from 25 games for Juventus so far.

At the weekend, the 27-year-old appeared on Twitch to express his affection towards the Premier League club, and Tuttosport relayed his comments.

“I miss Aston Villa, guys. I miss playing at Villa Park, I miss everything, it’s always in my heart,” he said.

The Brazil international’s admission didn’t go down well with a section of the Serie A club’s supporters, who made their feelings clear on social networking platforms. This even led to some suggestions that he could be open to a move back to Villa Park.

On Sunday, the former Manchester City man took to Instagram to make it clear that he is not thinking about returning to Aston Villa in the summer window.

“When I spoke about Aston Villa I was only referring to the affection for a place where I grew up as a man and a footballer, not the desire to return,” he said.

“You must not confuse nostalgia with the desire to return. I love Juventus, and I’m totally focused on our goals.”

Despite providing an explanation, Tuttosport report Luiz’s future ‘remains up in the air’. Earlier claims have credited Nottingham Forest with an interest in the South American.

Monchi has already said he’d be tempted to take Douglas Luiz back if the opportunity arose, and whatever he said in the second quotes to appease Juventus fans, it appears clear the first comments are how he really feels.
