The Portuguese media is today full of stories about Liverpool’s pursuit for Porto star Luis Diaz. They all bring a mix of what’s being said in England and their own take on the chase.

One of the most interesting pieces comes from Correio da Manhã, who claims that the Dragons are actually interested in selling a couple of players and make €100m in January.

Regarding Diaz and Liverpool’s alleged bid of €72m, it’s said Porto will use the competition from Manchester United and Newcastle to convince the Reds of raising their offer for the player.

With Jurgen Klopp said to be in a hurry to replace Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, who are out due to the Africa Cup of Nations, that’s another advantage the Dragons have in the talks.

In case Liverpool don’t reach the €80m of Diaz’s release clause, it’s said Porto would try to reach that amount by including bonuses or even a ‘discount’ in the purchase of Marko Grujic, who’s loaned by the Anfield side to the Portuguese club.

This morning, we saw a much more optimistic story from newspaper A Bola, who believes the deal between the clubs ‘is underway’, as the Reds are close on convincing the Dragons.
