Manchester United’s interest in Napoli right-back Giovanni Di Lorenzo is starting to become a hot topic in the Italian media, with several outlets now commenting on the chase.
Radio Marte are one of those who have talked about the possibility of this transfer, even though not everyone believes that the move is realistic.
Pundit Enrico Fedele, who’s a former sports executive, was asked about this rumour and made clear there’s a huge difference between an interest and an attempt from the Red Devils.
“Are Manchester United interested in Giovanni Di Lorenzo? But let’s stop with these electoral proclamations! Things must be done with certainty: one thing is the interest and one thing is the offer or the negotiation,” he said (via Area Napoli).
“At the moment certain players are being advertised to the maximum, but from here to say things that don’t happen… it seems exaggerated to me. We must be serious. The next market will be a market for swaps, there will be no money. Napoli bought early in January some players who, now, in light of the general crisis, would have paid less, even half.”
Manchester United’s interest in Di Lorenzo started a couple of days ago, with website Calcio Napoli saying the club made contacts with his agents to get more information on the player.
Things got bigger on Thursday, with newspaper Corriere Dello Sport bringing their own story. It’s been said the Red Devils have ‘informally’ probed the player’s position.
But the outlet also claimed that Napoli see Di Lorenzo as a crucial player for the squad, and would need some convincing to let the player go in the next summer window.
