Since Kristoffer Ajer’s agent Tore Pedersen heavily suggested the defender is planning to leave Celtic, there have been a handful of clubs linked with the Norway international.
AC Milan is one of the clubs who are looking at the 21-year-old and reports coming out of Italy on March 26th explained the Serie A side have identified him as one of their centre-back targets. However, the Hoops star was not on top of their list.
Calciomercato now claims the Rossoneri are ‘hunting’ for a new central defender as it’s their priority in the next transfer window to strengthen the heart of defence.
The Italian side are looking for someone who’s ‘physically strong and with a strong leadership’ and the website reckons the Celtic player fits the profile as he ’embodies these characteristics’.
In addition to this, he is a player who is highly appreciated by the San Siro club’s scouts.
Ajer and Marseille’s Boubacar Kamara are included in Milan’s latest list of targets, but the report adds the Celtic player is ‘on pole’.
His contract with the Bhoys is until 2022 and Calciomercato states Neil Lennon’s side have no plans to offer any discount to Milan. However, there’s no mention of the figure needed to take Ajer away from Celtic.
