Whenever Florentin Pogba gets interviewed by an outlet, the inevitable questions about his brother Paul always pop up.
The Manchester United midfielder has been one of the most talked about footballers in recent weeks, and for all the good reasons, turning his form around drastically since the arrival of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Old Trafford.
Unable to make the difference in an injury ravaged team at the weekend against Liverpool, the France international will want to make things right in the next game against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
One game he won’t be able to take part in, however, is the return leg in the Champions League against Paris Saint-Germain, picking up two yellow cards in the first game at Old Trafford.
Foot Mercato, in their sit-down with the new Atlanta United footballer, asked if he’d spoken to his brother about that suspension.
He said: “The desire to return to the Champions League and go back to a city where he grew up, I think that was an extra motivation. Unfortunately, that won’t happen. It’s a disappointment for him and the team. We still believe in the remontada. We’ll see how the return leg goes”.
The defender was also asked about the comments made in AS about sending his brother to Barcelona or Real Madrid, and pushed about a potential transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in the future.
He continued: “I don’t know about PSG, you’ll have to ask him if it’s of interest, but I was talking about clubs. For him, the clubs I mentioned would suit him better. Looking at his worth these days, there aren’t many clubs who can buy him.
“Either he signs or he doesn’t. I know there aren’t many clubs who can afford him. He’ll choose. The clubs could be interested if there was a transfer to be made”.
Well, that didn’t clear up much. It still sounds as if he would like to see his brother in a Real Madrid or a Barcelona shirt.
First, however, they’ll have to go through Ed Woodward, and we all know how much the CEO likes having the Frenchman around.
