Ever since it was revealed that Ralf Rangnick would likely become the Manchester United interim manager, there has been a lot of speculation about who could follow him.
With two assistants expected to join him at Old Trafford, the German was widely believed to want Lars Kornetka, a trusted partner of his, beside him.
The 43-year-old is currently an adviser of management at Lokomotiv Moscow, previously working with Ralf Rangnick as a video analyst at Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig and Schalke, as well as with Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich.
He was then an assistant manager at Bayer Leverkusen, Leipzig and most recently PSV Eindhoven before following the German to Russia.
A few reports in England emerged claiming he was likely to be a staff member at Old Trafford, but Sport Express in Russia dismiss that, claiming he is the one who will stay behind at Lokomotiv to oversee the job Rangnick is leaving.
It’s said he is ‘immersed in Loko’s affairs, has already participated in many club processes with Rangnick and it won’t take him long to get up to speed’.
That now makes it very unlikely that he will travel to Manchester United with his former partner, meaning someone else will have to help the 63-year-old at Carrington over the next few months.
