According to claims in Italy, Torino are trying to close a deal for Stoke City midfielder Giannelli Imbula. The Frenchman saw himself sidelined by Mark Hughes in the second half of last season, and likely needs to move on this summer.

La Stampa have reported Torino sporting director Gianluca Petrachi has met with the Stoke City player’s agent, to talk about a possible move.

It’s been claimed the Premier League side are holding out for €20m, as they look to recoup as much as they can from what they paid FC Porto 18 months ago.

Torino have offered Stoke City in the region of €12m, and subsequently Petrachi is hoping the English club could meet them half way.

Imbula has also been linked with a move to Turkey this summer, with Galatasaray holding talks for the player. Despite weeks of discussions, the Turkish giants this week pulled out of efforts to sign the midfielder due to Stoke City’s demands.
