Tottenham Hotspur have had several last chances to get their act together over Juan Foyth. Estudiantes originally thought they had an agreement to sell the defender to Spurs, but when the Tottenham proposal was studied in full, it became clear there was a relatively small payment upfront accompanied by bonuses.
There’s been a couple of developments over the past few days. El Dia again made it clear that Foyth and his family would prefer a Tottenham move, with a confidence the player would get more prominence under Mauricio Pochettino.
Foyth was also called up for a meeting by Jorge Sampaoli, an indication the 19 year old is on the edge of the senior Argentina squad, and could feature for his country in the not too distant future.
On Saturday, El Dia quoted Estudiantes sporting director Juan Sebastián Verón as saying: “We already have a club-to-club agreement with PSG for Foyth.”
Verón added that there was agreement, as yet, with the player’s agent. The situation is being dragged out as long as possible, giving Tottenham their final chance to swoop and give Foyth what he really wants.
The sale figure for PSG is ‘over €11m’, which the majority of that made up by a straight fee.
