On May 15th, Mundo Deportivo reported Luis Díaz is willing to ‘fight’ with Liverpool to seal a move to Barcelona. It was also stated the La Liga side have a plan to sign the forward in the summer window.
Barca sporting director Deco is leading the chase as he dreams of bringing the 27-year-old to the Camp Nou.
That’s according to Saturday’s edition of AS, who say Díaz’s future at Liverpool needs to be clarified because of Arne Slot replacing Jürgen Klopp.
This has allowed Deco to make movements behind the scenes and the report claims he’s met with the Liverpool star’s agent.
Deco has ‘detected a certain lack of character and winning instinct’ at the club and noticed the squad sulking whenever there’s a negative trend. In order to improve the situation, the director wants to sign leaders like Díaz and Real Betis’ Guido Rodríguez.
The Colombia international’s contract lasts until 2027 and it’s claimed Liverpool ‘don’t see a transfer as a bad thing’.
Should the Merseyside club open the exit door, it’s stated Barca, led by Deco, have to ‘prepare for a tough negotiation’. The Blaugrana’s difficult financial situation is well known and they have to find a way to raise funds to sign Díaz.
Transfermarkt values the South American at €75m and AS say Barca could raise €50m, if they manage to sell Raphinha.
