FC Utrecht sporting director Jordy Zuidam has suggested Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich returned to the Dutch side to boost his World Cup hopes.
Klich has also gone on record to say he left Leeds United to boost his chances with the Polish national team.
Zuidam has released a statement on the Dutch side’s official website stating Klich wants to get back in the spotlight ahead of this summer’s World Cup: “He has proven to be a player who can make a difference in the Eredivisie, and Mateusz has a huge drive to be in the spotlight with Poland ahead of the World Cup.
“He gives Jean-Paul de Jong (Utrecht coach) an extra option.”
This week it was confirmed the Leeds United player will spend the remainder of the season on loan with Utrecht.
Klich only joined Leeds United in the last window, but failed to make an impact with the Championship side. In total in played just 131 minutes for the English side,
There have also been reports Utrecht could look to extend his stay in the Netherlands, even though a right of redemption wasn’t agreed with Leeds United.
There’s no confirmation if Klich demanded a Leeds United exit after seeing an early preview of the club’s new crest.
