On Tuesday, we covered claims from Sweden that Wolverhampton Wanderers, Olympiacos and FC Cincinnati are all ‘very interested’ in Abdoulie Manneh.
They also stated Wolves and two other clubs have already sent scouts to watch him live in action for Mjällby AIF and the trio are considering making offers in the summer window.
After claims of Wolves, Olympiacos and the MLS side emerged, Fotbollskanalen contacted Mjällby sporting director Hasse Larsson for an update.
They contacted him to discuss the 20-year-old and his teammate Nicklas Røjkjær, who have been standout players for the Swedish club. The director claims the duo have taken “big steps’ and hopes they continue to impress at Mjällby.
Manneh joined Mjällby from Gambian side Wallidan in January 2024 and signed a contract until December 2027.
Fotbollskanalen points out the Allsvenskan club are known for signing players for cheap and selling them for profit. They asked the official whether there’s any plan to sell the Gambian or Røjkjær in the summer window.
“I haven’t really thought about it yet. But we are in contact with them all the time. We own the issue, and it all depends on how the team, and they perform. And which interested parties show up. We haven’t talked about that, so I don’t know,” he said.
When asked what Mjällby can get for the duo, Larsson explained: “It’s about age and how far they have come in development. And how things are going for Mjällby.”
The two players have their contracts until 2027, meaning their employer would be in a comfortable position. Larsson agrees but indicates offers would have to be considered for the duo.
“Yes, we do. But if there is an offer we can say no to, that will be a different matter. We know where we are in the food chain,” he added.
“Actually, I hope they stay in Mjällby for a few more years, maybe even extend. But that is not very likely. They are fantastic guys who fit perfectly in Mjällby. And they are happy and comfortable.”
When asked what the Wolves target and Røjkjær have to say about the transfer interest, the director said: “They are humble and calm. You have to work hard all the time, every match and every training session. Otherwise, things can turn around quickly.”
