Hamburg sporting director Jens Todt has told the German media Pierre-Michel Lasogga could still have a role to play with the Bundesliga side.
The 25 year old is currently on loan with Leeds United, and the forward has made an impressive start since his arrival in England.
Speaking to Hamburger Morgenpost, Todt was asked about Lasogga’s future with the German side, after being loaned to Leeds United: “If Pierre has a good season, he could also play a role with a lot of fresh self-confidence.”
Lasogga has hit the ground running since joining Leeds United in August, and the former German U21 international has already scored three goals in five games for the Championship side.
Given the impact he’s made since his arrival at Elland Road the Leeds United fans may be hoping his move is made permanent next summer, but there’s still the issue of his high salary.
Leeds United are currently just paying a percentage of Lasogga’s reported £59k weekly wage, and a move may depend on the club getting promotion to the Premier League.
However, given Todt’s comments the striker could still have a future at Hamburg next season.
