Yesterday it was reported Leeds United want to sign NEC forward Jay-Roy Grot, and that the Championship side have put in a bid for the youngster.
These reports have filtered to the Dutch media, with claims Leeds United will expect to face competition from several clubs to sign Grot this summer.
However, De Gelderlander report NEC have yet to confirm Leeds United’s bid for the 19 year old, and the Dutch side’s sporting director has refused to answer any questions about the English side’s reported offer for the forward.
De Gelderlander say, according to their own information, several bids have been received for Grot, and the player’s departure ‘seems to be coming’.
NEC will struggle to keep hold of Grot, according to the Dutch newspaper, with the player having just under 12 months left on his contract with the club.
The Dutch club have been experiencing financial difficulties in recebt season, and could be under pressure to sell Grot in this window, or risk losing him on a free next summer.
Leeds United are in the hunt for a forward after the departure of Chris Wood, and the young Dutchman is an option.
