Despite what was written yesterday in the English and Italian press, there is very little chance of Claudio Marchisio leaving Juventus for Chelsea anytime soon.

Reports emerged on Monday claiming the 31-year-old, who was used more sporadically than usual last season, could be sacrificed by Juventus, although that was merely Gazzetta dello Sport suggesting a possibility rather than stating facts.

Having evidently received clarification between Monday and Tuesday, the very same newspaper explain that although he does want to play football a bit more regularly, he never once asked to leave the place he calls home, nor will he in the future.

The only way Chelsea could get the man they are supposedly interested in is if Juventus decide enough is enough and push Marchisio towards the exit, and that isn’t the case right now.

If that wasn’t enough, the player’s father (also his agent) decided to clear the air, relayed by the same newspaper, further putting to bed the idea of a transfer to Stamford Bridge.

He said: “Two years ago, we signed a five year contract. I spoke to Juventus three days ago and they didn’t tell me anything of the sort. Two things are sure: Claudio is happy and wants to play.”

Left on the bench in the Supercoppa against Lazio, Marchisio did however start the first Serie A game of the season against Cagliari, playing 62 minutes and helping his side achieve a 3-0 win to kick off the new campaign nicely.

The Italian doesn’t look set for a Chelsea move.
