Granit Xhaka will not be joining AS Roma as the Italian club failed to find an agreement with Arsenal for his transfer.
The Serie A side are searching for alternatives to the Gunners man in the market and the latest name to emerge is that of Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Leander Dendoncker.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who say that José Mourinho has been asking for a new midfielder for ‘some time’ and Tiago Pinto, the Giallorossi sporting director, is looking around in the market.
Apart from AZ Alkmaar star Teun Koopmeiners and Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria, the Wolves midfielder is also in the sights of Pinto.
The Italian club have already done business with the Premier League side this summer, when they signed Rui Patrício last month.
Dendoncker has two years left on his contract and can operate as a defensive midfielder and also in the heart of the back four.
It’s claimed the Belgium international is valued at €25m, a figure deemed too high for Mourinho’s side right now. Roma could consider signing the Belgian if they manage to raise funds by offloading some of their own players.
