This should be a decisive week in Reading’s quest for a new football director, according to reports from the Brazilian media.
Yahoo journalist Jorge Nicola says that Alexandre Mattos, who’s been hired for the job, may end up giving up on the position.
The reason for that is because he’s been trying to get a work permit since January, and still hasn’t had a final response ton it.
Interestingly, he has an offer to join Atlético Mineiro, and has even met the Brazilian side to explain the situation which he’s been going through.
During the talks with Atlético, Mattos has claimed that the delay for his work permit has been happening because of Brexit and Coronavirus.
This meeting happened last Thursday, and according to the story, Mattos told the Brazilian side that he’d wait for one more week.
If he doesn’t get the work permit now, then he will consider giving up on the Reading job and stay in his home country.
