The CEO of Hammarby has told the Swedish media they were given fake tickets for last weekend’s game between Liverpool and Sunderland at Anfield. Each year the Swedish club organise a trip to a European game, but this time it didn’t quite go to plan.

Speaking to Expressen.se, Henrick Lund was asked if rumours on social media were true about them being given counterfeit tickets by their sponsors. Lund said making the trip to Europe is an annual thing, but this time the batch of tickets given to watch the Liverpool and Sunderland clash at Anfield turned out to be fake. The Hammarby chief realises this can happen sometimes in England and they were just unfortunate on this occasion.

“We have an annual trip with the sponsors when we go out in Europe and watch football. We would have seen Liverpool against Sunderland but the tickets were fake. This sometimes happens in England. Our partner got cheated on tickets. We got no tickets to the game, which was unfortunate,” said Lund.

Despite not being able to watch Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side beat David Moyes’ Sunderland 2-0 Hammarby were able to get their hands-on tickets for the Manchester United clash with West Ham United the following day. The Swedish club were rewarded when they saw their compatriot Zlatan Ibrahimovic score Manchester United’s leveller in his side’s 1-1 draw.
