Wolverhampton Wanderers’ are still keen on signing Corinthians’ Yuri Alberto, after looking at him in the past.
Three months ago, Alberto’s agent André Cury stated Wolves had made an offer for his client, without explaining why the move didn’t materialise.
On May 21st, we covered claims from Brazil that Vítor Pereira has asked the Premier League club to sign the striker. It was also stated Wolves will table a €35m bid for him this summer.
Three days later, Bolavip Brasil reported Corinthians owe money to Cury and that can help Wolves secure the 24-year-old’s services.
Globo Esporte point out that they had also reported the English club are willing to offer €35m for the former Santos man.
They’ve published a detailed chat with Corinthians sporting director Fabinho Soldado, and specifically asked him about Wolves’ willingness to offer €35m for Alberto. The official has insisted there’s no offer yet for the player.
“I’ll give you the same answer I gave to the Memphis question, nothing changes in relation to what I said,” he said,
“It will only change when something comes. Let’s agree that in the last transfer window you received the same information: ‘an offer will come’. I’m telling the truth, this is speculation.
“Of course, we know that he is a player with a high market value, that the Europeans are following. Just look at how many goals he scores, the minutes he plays on the field, his age, his importance to Corinthians. But he himself expressed his desire to renew.”
The frontman has managed 13 goals and an assist from 35 games in this calendar year, and the director explained what’s needed for Corinthians to sell players like Alberto.
“Yuri Alberto, Memphis, Breno Bidon, Rodrigo Garro are players who certainly have a market,” Soldado explained.
“Of course something should come up, but nothing has come up for us to sit down and talk about. For a club to sit down with us and take one of our players at this level, it has to be worth it. These offers don’t come every day because not every club is in a position to do this.”
