There is a ‘direct thread’ between West Ham United and Gianluca Scamacca’s entourage over a move to the London Stadium this summer.
That’s according to Corriere Dello Sport, who say the contact ‘should be noted’ and could lead to the transfer happening.
They report that West Ham have prepared an offer of around €40m plus bonuses, and there could be news as early as next week.
The former Genoa striker is ‘highly regarded’ by West Ham boss David Moyes and officials at the club. They are, however, evaluating other profiles as well.
One plus point is that Paris Saint Germain, his other big suitor, have closed a deal for striker Hugo Ekitike, so ‘remain more distant’.
That gives West Ham a greater chance to get their man and add the striker that David Moyes has been looking to add to his squad.
Corriere do make it clear that there is work to be done, but a bid has been submitted, and contacts with the player’s entourage are underway, so this is a deal that is getting increasingly closer to being a possibility.
