Since it was made public that Roberto Firmino would leave Liverpool at the end of the season, a few Brazilian sides got excited with the chance of signing him.

There have been many stories about a potential move to Corinthians, since the 31-year-old previously claimed that’s the club he used to support.

It turns out that as club director Alessandro spoke to the Brazilian media this week (via ESPN Brasil), he pointed out that Firmino’s departure from Liverpool doesn’t necessarily mean he’d return to South America.

“Firmino is a striker who would be on the agenda of any Brazilian club. For the quality, for what he has already done, commitment. Without a doubt, if there’s a possibility, many clubs would be interested. It’s a difficult question, a player who has the characteristics to still play in European football.”

Despite having less playing time for Liverpool this season if compared to others, the forward has still managed to score 11 goals and contribute five assists in 32 appearances so far, scoring the Reds equaliser in the 2-2 draw against Arsenal at the weekend.

Even though it’s well known many clubs will be interested in signing him as a free agent, there are no strong rumours about any kind of deal for now, as it seems he’ll wait for the season to end so he can evaluate the options on the table.
