José Mourinho spent three years at Real Madrid between 2010-13 and Pedro León was one of the players signed by Los Blancos in the Portuguese tactician’s first transfer window.
During his time at Real Madrid, León caught the attention of Chelsea and Manchester City, but the manager blocked moves to Stamford Bridge and the Etihad.
“I had another offer from City, Chelsea and Milan. Some wanted to sign me in winter but Mourinho didn’t let me go,” the 32 year old told Onda Cero.
The winger is now currently plying his trade at Eibar, likely wondering what may have been had he got the chance to have signed for Manchester City or Chelsea.
León arrived at Real Madrid from Getafe following an impressive campaign with the latter.
He spent one full season with the 13-time European champions before being loaned out to Getafe for two seasons in 2011. His temporary deal was made permanent in 2013.
When the player moved to Real Madrid, León was considered one of the brightest prospects in Spanish football.
However, he struggled at Real Madrid and reportedly didn’t enjoy a good relationship with Mourinho after the latter criticised the player.
