For the past few days, several reports from the Brazilian media have been showing how engaged Flamengo have been in the talks for the transfer of Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira.
It’s been said the Rio de Janeiro side have already submitted an offer to sign the player on a loan, and the 25-year-old himself seems to have approved the transfer.
Now we get a couple of more updates on this situation. One of them comes from Torcedores, who managed to get a few details of the offer.
According to their story, Flamengo are offering €1.5m to have Pereira on loan until December 2022. However, they can’t afford his wages, since he makes £196k per month in England, so they’d pay half of it.
The Brazilian club would also have an option to buy the player for €15m. That’s way below the €27m demanded by Manchester United, and the clubs are trying to find a common ground.
Meanwhile, Flamengo’s football vice-president Marcos Braz spoke to TNT Sports last night, and confirmed that there are talks for the move.
He claimed that the negotiations with Manchester United had been kept a secret for a while.
“The reporter is to be congratulated, because it was a name that was hidden all the time, it didn’t come out anywhere. We have until the 28th. He’s a player from a great club, one of the biggest in Europe, and we’re trying to see if we can achieve the same success or hope to have the same ending.
“The negotiations are going on, there’s always a problem, there’s always some point where there’s a bigger jam, especially at the level of a player like this. We’re happy to be in this attempt to sign this player.”
