This week, the Brazilian media has been filled with stories about Aston Villa striker Wesley Moraes.
Reports have been claiming that Internacional, Palmeiras and São Paulo are all interested in signing him in January, as the player is apparently keen on moving to his home country.
Following knee surgery, Wesley was sent by Aston Villa on a season-long spell at Club Brugge. Things aren’t going well for him in Belgium, as he isn’t having many minutes, and that’s why he could leave them in January.
From the three Brazilian sides who’ve been linked to him, stories claim that only São Paulo actually made an offer for the signing. And this information is backed up by UOL, with journalists now bringing a few details on this attempt.
“The negotiation with Wesley Moraes is difficult, but São Paulo sent a loan proposal. It left the conversation stage and reached a negotiation. It’s lacking Aston Villa’s answer and whether he will be released by Club Brugge,” started Brunno Carvalho.
“Wesley Moraes is the best portrait of what São Paulo will be in this window. He’s not a player they believe is very viable, but they put it on the line. The proposal is a free loan, with Aston Villa paying a good part of his salary. If they accept, he’s a good player that São Paulo gets at a low cost,” said Marcelo Hazan.
The hope from Brazilian clubs is that Aston Villa want Wesley playing where he can shine again following the recovery from his knee injury. His contract with the Premier League side runs until 2024.
