Hurriyet report Everton’s Morgan Schneiderlin was Galatasaray’s primary target for the defensive midfield position, but they’ve been told by the Premier League side the Frenchman is not for sale.
The Turkish club’s manager Faith Terim reportedly told the board signing a defensive midfielder should be a top priority in the remaining days of the transfer window, but Hurriyet report they’ve been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Schneiderlin.
It’s reported Galatasaray offered a €1.5m loan fee for the 29 year old but Everton said they’ve changed their mind and informed the Super Lig side Schneiderlin will stay at the club this season. Last week Marco Silva confirmed in his press conference the former Manchester United man was part of his plans for this campaign.
Earlier this summer we covered reports from the Turkish press that the Merseyside club would allow their player to leave on a loan deal, with claims they had a price in mind.
However, it seems their failure to secure Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure has changed Everton’s stance.
Schneiderlin, who was also linked with a move to Fenerbahce, is under contract at Goodison Park until June 2021.
