While the Italian media were worried West Ham’s decision to sign Andriy Yarmolenko from Borussia Dortmund meant the end of the Felipe Anderson deal, Globo Esporte in Brazil think the exact opposite.
In fact, the Brazilian outlet believe the deal taking the forward from Lazio to London Stadium could be done very soon for around £38m, which would be a record transfer for the Hammers.
The negotiations between the two sides should theoretically conclude in the next few hours, allowing the former Santos starlet to get the move to England he has wanted all summer.
Towards the end of our coverage of the Italian media earlier on Monday, we explained that despite all the pessimism, there was no mention of the Felipe Anderson talks collapsing, which was the only positive sign.
If what Globo are reporting is true, then there was a reason for that, and there’s every chance the Yarmolenko transfer forced Lazio to lower their demands from €45m to accept €43m (£38m) offered by West Ham for fear of missing out.
There has yet to be any updates from Italy on the matter, but we’ll keep you in the loop if there are.
