Brighton and Hove Albion forward Kaoru Mitoma has admitted he doesn’t know what the future holds when his current loan deal comes to an end.
The 24-year-old is currently on loan with Union SG in Belgium, having joined them from Brighton in August last year, a day after joining the Seagulls in a £2.7m deal from Kawasaki Frontale.
He’s been a big hit with the Belgian side, with six goals and four assists in 22 gmes in all competitions so far.
He’s very much a star player for the outfit, who are currently the surprise leaders of the Belgian top-flight.
There is every chance that they will be playing Champions League football next season, something Mitoma will surely want to be a part of, having played such a key role in helping them to get there.
He certainly won’t be getting that if he returns to Brighton, but he insists the decision will be out of his hands.
“I don’t know about that (his future),” he told Het Nieuwsblad.
“That depends on Brighton because my contract runs there. I maintain contacts with them, and I hear them after all my games.
“When I got injured, they also asked me how I was doing. Anyway, it’s a dream to play in the Premier League, although the level is extremely high there.”
