Timo Werner’s potential departure from Chelsea gets another update from the German media today.
Sky Deutschland journalist Florian Plettenburg now writes that the striker’s return to RB Leipzig is becoming ‘more and more likely’, with talks ‘running at full speed’.
The reporter claims that the Bundesliga side are ‘checking’ all the possible scenarios to carry out the move, being interested in both a loan and a permanent deal.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is now set to have an important say on the matter, deciding whether he’d like to see Werner leaving temporarily or gone for good.
Plettenberg also claims that given his ‘great connection’ with RB Leipzig, Werner is set to accept a ‘drastic salary cut’ to complete the move.
The striker has already made public his desire to play more, and that apparently didn’t go down well with Thomas Tuchel, who responded to him by claiming he should be happy to have a contract with Chelsea.
This report doesn’t say how much RB Leipzig could pay in case of a permanent transfer, while Werner is currently valued by Transfermarkt at €35m.
