As we near towards players returning from international duty, newspapers and websites are starting to look at who is returning fit and who isn’t.
One of the big upcoming games for the Spanish media is that of Atlético Madrid taking on Liverpool, and the La Liga side are having difficulties putting a defence together.
Mundo Deportivo look at the situation on Wednesday and explain Diego Simeone is already unable to count on Stefan Savic, who is out with a suspension, and ‘everything indicates’ they will also be without José María Giménez as he is returning injured from representing his nation.
As things stand, the Spanish side can will have to rely on Mario Hermoso and Felipe for the game against Liverpool, which would be fine if he sticks to his 4-4-2, but ‘not if he decides to start with the 3-5-2’.
They do have an ‘emergency solution’ in Geoffrey Kondogbia, but as they are facing Liverpool, one of the more free-scoring games in Europe with 28 goals in 10 games played, playing a makeshift back three might not be the best idea.
For the Reds, this is all certainly good news, and something Jürgen Klopp and co. will be keeping an eye on once they start fully preparing for the Champions League clash.
