It would appear that the fantasy rumours of Patrice Evra making a comeback to Manchester United have completely disappeared, and there’s two options left for the French left-back.
Gazzetta dello Sport on Wednesday look at the player’s options, and give an update on the 35-year-old’s situation, which hasn’t progressed all that much, to be perfectly honest.
The player has a decision to make, and that is either to stay at Juventus for the remainder of his contract until June, or leave now and go to either Valencia or West Ham.
Slaven Bilic’s side are currently very thin at the full-back position, relying on summer signing Havard Nordtveit at right-back, with Michail Antonio being used further forward, and Aaron Cresswell is the only fit left-back, with Arthur Masuaku currently suffering from a knee-injury.
The arrival of Patrice Evra to the London Stadium would certainly help lift some of the pressure on a very injury prone backline, but the veteran defender has decided to take a few days to make his mind up.
Having never played in Spain, there’s a chance Patrice Evra could use this opportunity to discover a new competitive league while he still can.
However, the club’s precarious position (17th in La Liga) could play in West Ham’s favour, and a return to England might be too hard for the Manchester United icon to refuse.
The player’s agent, Federico Pastorello, is said to have held discussions with Juventus on Tuesday, but little was achieved.
It seems West Ham and Slaven Bilic are going to have to twiddle their thumbs until Evra makes a decision, and just hope he choose them.
