Peruvian defender Oliver Sonne has revealed he dreams of making a switch to Arsenal.
The 23-year-old started his youth career in Denmark and has been with Danish side Silkeborg IF since 2021. The right-back has impressed this season, scoring three goals and registering four assists from 31 games.
Sonne’s deal lasts until 2026, but Tipsbladet indicate he could leave Silkeborg for a top club in the summer window. If it were up to him, he would either join Arsenal or make a switch to Serie A.
The Peru international has been speaking to Pase Filtrado on various topics, including his plans for the future. Tipsbladet, who have relayed his comments, claim the player has received interest from Ligue 1.
His immediate focus is on Silkeborg’s cup final against AGF and he then hopes to secure a move to another club.
“I have been here for three years, and there are times when you want to try new things,” he said.
When discussing the league or the club he dreams of moving to, the defender talked about Mikel Arteta’s side.
“I would like to play in the Italian league or at Arsenal. It would be a dream of mine, but I don’t know if it’s possible at the moment. I hope it can become a reality one day,” Sonne explained.
Ben White has been the first-choice right-back at Arsenal, with Takehiro Tomiyasu providing him cover. In addition to this, Cédric Soares is also at the Emirates, but his deal expires in June.
It’s unlikely that Arsenal will focus on strengthening the right-back in the summer window, meaning Sonne may have to wait for his dreams to be fulfilled… at least it gives him time to progress.
