Dynamo Kyiv defender Carlos Zambrano has revealed it is his ‘dream’ to play for Liverpool, and he once had an offer from the club.
30-year-old Zambrano joined Kyiv from Rubin Kazan in the January transfer window last year.
He’s yet to make an appearance for the club, though, spending last season out on loan at FC Basel and failing to earn any appearances for them so far this season either.
This move is one of many during a varied career for Zambrano, who has played for clubs in Germany, Greece and his native Peru so far.
He’s yet to turn out in England or Spain, although it now appears he had that chance at one point in his career.
In an interview with Movistar, relayed by Directvsports, he revealed he had offers from both Liverpool and Sevilla at one point in his career.
“It has always been a dream to play in Liverpool or Sevilla, and I had offers from both,” he claimed.
“The Sevilla could not happen because Frankfurt Eintracht did not want to.
“I was in a good moment, and I was fine there, and it was not done.
“A week before the preseason, Liverpool had injuries to all their central defenders.
“Jürgen Klopp was already in the club and they asked me at that time, but a week before I had promised my coach that I stayed in the club and fight.”
