Paris Saint Germain defender Colin Dabga ‘remains in the sights’ of Arsenal after turning down a loan move to Saint Etienne.
That’s according to Foot Mercato, who say Dagba is searching for a new club amid a struggle for game-time in Paris.
The website explains that Saint-Etienne want to take advantage of this transfer window to strengthen their squad and had set their sights on Dagba as a potential addition.
He has barely featured this season after the opposite last season, and it was felt that represented a great opportunity for the Forez club to secure a loan deal.
However, the player has no intention of joining them and made that clear when Saint-Etienne contacted his agent, Pini Zahavi.
He vetoed any operation and, barring any further attempts, should remain a PSG player until the end of the season at least.
His future lies away from the club, though, and he is ‘in search of a good club with a solid project’ for the summer.
There are several interested parties who still have him ‘in the sights’, including Arsenal.
That was before they signed Takehiro Tomiyasu in the summer, and he’s proven to be a big hit at the Emirates since, so it’s hard to imagine they’re as interested as they once were.
Competition is good, though, and Dagba fits the profile of younger players that Mikel Arteta wants to focus on at Arsenal moving forwards, so perhaps this is one to keep an eye on for the future.
