Lazio defender Luiz Felipe has been interviewed by Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte on Thursday. The big topic of his interview was the great season he’d been having in Italy, with his club fighting for the title, and his form could give him a chance to be called up for the national team.
This dream has been postponed by the Coronavirus break, although he’ll certainly have new chances in the future.
The transfer window has also been mentioned in the chat, with Globo Esporte saying he’s been linked to the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City lately.
The 23-year-old didn’t want to sound like he’s in talks with any clubs, but still, made it clear he’s happy for being linked to them.
“In this time without games, we end up reading more news and I saw that some reports about these supposed interests. Of course, this makes you happy and proud because, in one way or another, it’s a sign that the job is being done well and people have been following and appreciating it,” Luiz Felipe told Globo Esporte.
“Anyone who knows me knows that I’m a calm and very focused guy. I try not to think about it too much so I don’t lose focus on the present. My goal now is to keep training hard to be well prepared when the games return. We can make history and I want to mark my name in the history of Lazio.”
This interview has also been covered by the Italian media, and one of the websites use a different version of it. They quote Luiz Felipe saying: “I don’t know if Manchester City and Barcelona are on my trail, I’d certainly be happy if that was the case.”
That’s not included in the original story. Since it’s very likely these quotes will be spread later, it’s worth knowing they aren’t 100% true.
