A couple of days ago, we covered a story from L’Equipe in France regarding Aston Villa’s interest in Harold Moukoudi.
Steve Bruce’s side were said to have offered a deal of up to €9m for the centre-back, which was always going to be a loan with a view to buy, since that’s the only type of deal Championship clubs can do since August 8th.
The details of this offer have since been looked at in more detail by Foot Mercato’s Dahbia Hattabi, who explained the figures could be broken down in €1.1m up front and €7.7m to be paid in January (since his contract expires in June).
Aston Villa had also offered a four-year contract for when he signed, but the player was reluctant to move to England, preferring to continue his development in France.
Fast forward to Thursday, and the same journalist explains Steve Bruce is doing his utmost to get the deal over the line, having invited the 20-year-old to visit Villa Park and hold a head to head chat with him.
It now all rests on how convincing the former Manchester United defender ends up being, because if he manages to change Moukoudi’s mind, everything could happen very quickly.
