Inter Milan defender Davide Santon has told the Italian media he doesn’t have major issues with his fitness. The former Newcastle United star was on the verge of joining Sunderland and West Ham United in the summer.
Speaking to Calciomercato, Santon revealed his knee has stood up so far this season, but admits he can’t play a lot of a games in a short space of time However, Santon doesn’t understand why he failed his medical with Sunderland or West Ham because he’s had no problems with his knee in this campaign.
“My knee has handled it fine. I cannot play 5 games in 15 days, but from here to not passing the medical tests there’s a gap,” said Santon on his proposed move back to the Premier League in the last window.
Santon looked certain to make a return to England in the summer, but proposed moves to West Ham and Sunderland collapsed due to concerns over his fitness. The 25-year-old was also the target of Napoli, but again the move never happened for the same reasons.
