With a mere 31 appearances for Brighton & Hove Albion since joining in 2017, it’s fair to say Ezequiel Schelotto’s move to the Premier League hasn’t exactly gone to plan.
Completely pushed to one side by Chris Hughton, which led to a loan spell at Chievo, the Italy international was brought back in a little bit by Graham Potter this season, who gave him three starts and extra four appearances off the bench in the Premier League.
With a contract up at the end of the campaign, the 30-year-old is currently evaluating what his options are, which he spoke about on the show Sei La Dea.
Relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, he said: “I think about the future, but at the moment there is indecision. They could extend my contract beyond June if we start playing again, but the decision will then be up to me. I would like to stay in the Premier League, but you never know. We will look at the offers that will come”.
Prior to joining Brighton, the right-back had played for the likes of Atalanta, Inter and Sporting CP in Portugal, and it’s the move between the first two on that list which remains a topic of conversation in some parts of the Atalanta fanbase.
It didn’t go down too well, but the player keeps Bergamo in his heart, yet he knows a return there wouldn’t be up to him.
He added: “I don’t close the door to anyone. I don’t know how the fans will welcome me. Yes, I would go back on foot, but first you need to talk to the manager and the president”.
Who knows, if Timothy Castagne is sold, perhaps Atalanta could need a new right-back, and if there’s one they already know available on a free…
